BACKGROUND healing the children

This organization provides a range of medical services, including plastic surgery, to needy children around the world. It was incorporated in 1981 and in 1985 national conference was held in Connecticut. Within a year a national office was formed and a national board of directors were named. In 1989 the name was changed from "Heal the Children" to "Healing the Children." There are now chapters throughout the U.S. and medical treatment has been provided to children from 65 countries and the United States. The services are almost entirely donated and volunteer services. The Western Washington & Oregon Chapter of healing the children has a web page and solicites help through the internet.
