Plastic surgery support, Woman empathizes with Brown's plight

Winnipegger Carrie Feniuk says only those who have lost a lot of weight understand why it's so important to remove the unsightly leftover skin from their bodies -- no matter what the cost. "You put all this work and effort into it and you look at yourself and you think about going back to the way you looked before, because at least then it was tight," said Feniuk, who recently lost more than 100 pounds. "You lose all this weight and you can't even wear a bathing suit? ... It's very sad, actually." Feniuk returned home from the hospital yesterday after undergoing surgery to remove sections of excess skin from her stomach and thighs Monday. In the last year, the 25-year-old shed 130 pounds on Weight Watchers. People who lose large amounts of weight can end up with excess skin, which only disappears with expensive plastic surgery.

In the land of Cleopatra, youngsters rush for a facelift
Shireen, 19, dreams of having her nose re-done to look like her pop idol, but she says her 'dream' will not come true because her family cannot afford the bill of her cosmetic surgery. Shireen, a Cairo high school student, is one of many Egyptian girls whose concept of perfect beauty is shaped by movie stars and singers. Beefcake competition held in Shanghai
What's good for the ugly goose is also good for the unattractive gander. Thirty young men competed over the weekend for the chance to receive 300,000 yuan (US$6,145) in free plastic surgery. Shanghai Kinway Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center, which sculpted the city's first man-made female beauty three months ago, wants to prove that face-lifts and tummy tucks aren't just for women any more...

How do you want me?
Facelifts were once a Hollywood secret. Now they're advertised on the bus. Geraldine Bedell visits three cosmetic surgeons and asks: if everyone else is having a nip and a tuck, should she? I am of the pre-Jordan generation. Until recently, it never occurred to me that bigger breasts were something you could choose, still less that ageing was a process over which you might be expected to exercise any control. The idea of cosmetic surgery was remote and unthinkable.
