Most doctors encourage their patients to begin gentle short walks by the end of the first week after surgery. A serious complication of any surgery is the development of blood clots, especially in the legs as a result of inactivity. The risk of this is reduced by early movement. After two weeks you can begin more vigorous activity but you should not do any heavy lifting or vigorous jogging for at least a month to six weeks. Sometimes there are exceptions to these rules.
After breast augmentation most people can begin exercise at two weeks although before this you can walk. Special restrictions may apply if your implant is placed under the muscles. So if you are a 'fitness junkie,' or exercise is an important part of you life, you may want to discuss the position of the implant with Dr. Hudson.
If you have any special needs please ask Dr. Hudson.
